nødsnitt Explanation: Sometimes a C-section, or Caesarean section needs to be done "rapidly" such as in the case of an emergency. For instance, a woman going in to labor who was planning on a normal delivery may suddenly and unexpectedly need to deliver the baby by "rapid section". This is similar to a Caesarean section, however in contrast to a C-section (which is usually a horizontal incision), a rapid section will often be cut vertically (vertical incision). Caesarean section is called "keisersnitt" in Norwegian. These emergency sections are often referred to in Norwegian as "nødsnitt" as they are incisions made in emergency ("nød").
