The problem with remote control of anything is that you have know way of knowing if your remote command has been executed... so 'returns' (signals, feeds) are used in order to say "yes, I am running (etc.)" This would make sense in almost all the cases you list, but it's hard to be sure without knowing a lot more about your wider context, naturally. |

resume operation Explanation: If the context is a computer interface for an industrial machine that displays "diagnostic information", I doubt that the usage here is about actually "controlling" the machine and getting confirmation feedback. I think in this context the term refers to diagnostic information about machinery startup and machinery resuming operation. "Retour de defaut" in this context might mean "default settings restored". |
