English term or phrase: propensity for change
I can't find the right word for "propensity". Van Dale suggests some possibilities, IATE suggests another few, but none really seem to fit. Geneigdheid tot verandering, waarschijnlijkheid van verandering... I'm going with the latter now but am hoping someone has a better idea. I'm pretty sure someone will... Thanks. Sentence below, not much context available.

...which serves as an indicator for the propensity to change.

(we're talking about a development: will this social issue be improved/resolved in the future?)

Dank!

probability/likelihood of change

Explanation:
I'm not so sure about 'propensity' here.
OED: propensity; an inclination or natural tendency to behave in a certain way.
Thus it implies an innate characteristic and your context seems to require a more random or open meaning as it's not known which way 'it' will go.

I agree with your 'waarschijnlijk voor verandering'.

That is to say, "waarschijnlijkheid voor verandering'.

-> You may be right, though there seems to be a difference between tendency and propensity, the latter having something to do with the idea of active participation

-> I agree, depending on how you read it, thus depends on context. But this has been the common translation for propensity.
