Sono i casi ben noti di insetti antichissimi preservati all'interno della resina e giunti fino ai nostri giorni.

"La maggiore importanza scientifica dell'ambra è dovuta però agli inclusi ivi contenuti. Infatti, le goccioline di resina, cadendo su insetti ed altri animali di piccole dimensioni, potevano inglobarli completamente, soffocandoli e conservandoli pressoché intatti per milioni di anni".
