Explanation:
Дьявол, как обычно в контексте.
Если нам надо посчитать, к примеру, время до выхода забойной пачки при бурении, то нас будет интересовать "пространство" не как философская категория, а просто как объём. В таком случае мы говорим DP Capacity, или Volume, если речь о колонне БТ, или TBG Capacity (Volume), если в скважине НКТ.

Если же, наоборот, мы говорим о том, что во внутрь трубы суют телесистему или еще что-то (то есть, мы говорим не про объем трубы, а про саму трубу), то не мудрствуя лукаво, инженерный английский предлагает нам просто сказать: MWD assy was placed inside DP.

Вообще, русский инженерный язык бурения тяготеет к усложненности, что больше подходит для написания диссертаций, а не для целей практического бурения, которое обслуживается в большой мере сленгом.

DP=Drill Pipe=БТ=бурильная труба, "в собранном виде" - колонна бурильных труб
TBG=Tubing=НКТ=насосно-компрессорная труба, в девичестве - эксплуатационная колонна
