English term or phrase: Captive Persia in turn captivated…
Greetings,

This is a translation of a classical text by the poet Quīntus Horātius Flaccus (65-8 BC). The only difference is that ‘Persia’ has been substituted for ‘Greece’ and ‘Arabia’ for ‘Rome’.

Latin version:
Persia capta ferum victōrem cēpit et artīs intulit agrestī Arabiae.

English version:
Captive Persia in turn captivated her untamed conqueror and introduced the arts to unsophisticated Arabia.

It's only the first few words that I'm finding difficult; I believe that I'll be able to do the rest if you could start me off. What would be good if we could find two similar words like ‘captive’ and ‘captivated’.

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon

agree  Mojtaba Danesh: I'm for the second option as well, but I think three "خود" in a short sentence is a little odd!

-> Yes, the second "خود" can be replaced by a "خویش" and the last one by "خویش" or "ش_َ ". Thank you very much!

Explanation:
I have tried to use the minimum number of words to make it more like the Latin original. Although the Latin does not have the "captive-captivate" combination as in English, we can use "asir-esarat" in a similar way.
