A canteen usuallly does not serve much food; maybe one hot dish. The rest is typically offered in vending machines.
In my experience, a luncheonette is a commercial place open to the public. It would typically be small, run by an outside vendor, and not managed by the employees' company. So the memorandum telling people to eat their food in the cafeteria/dining hall would not ring true. A luncheonette serves sandwiches and food from refrigerators and vending machines, and typically there are very few places to sit, as much of the orders are carry out.

It depends on size, type of service, meals served, and hours of operation.
While I agreed with 'dining hall', afterward it occurred to me that that term is usually reserved for situations in which all three meals are served at scheduled sittings--as at a large camp or retreat center (example: Asiolmar near Monterey, CA).
A pharmaceutical company (your context?) would be more likely to have a company cafeteria where employees can drop in at any time and breakfast and lunch are served cafeteria-style. Hospitals usually have careterias, which can be quite large. So do large companies and organizations.
A lunchroom is usually small and quite informal. A break room is even smaller, and no food is served; people bring their own.
American military use 'mess hall'.
I don't know about British usage.

Is there any mention of the company providing food for purchase or distribution, or is it just an area where people bring there own food in to eat?
