X will not work as an article Explanation: It sounds to me like a reporter complaining because he or she has what seems like good material for an article but just can't find enough of a story underneath the material to actually turn it into an article. I'm an ex-journalist so my interpretation may be colored accordingly given that I've been in that position myself. :-) Without further context (can you tell us what your friend does, what is the context in which this friend is working, etc.) that's about all I have to offer for now. A marketer would have essentially the same spin I think--they have a new product or whatever, but it's just not novel enough that they can attract any journalists to write about it. |
