French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering: Industrial / Waste incineration plant
French term or phrase: mise à bas des feux
The complete phrase is "la mise à bas des feux est l'arrêt du four en sécurité déclenché par les sécurités câblées du four ou les sécurités listées dans l'analyse fonctionnelle".

Having been unable to rid my brain for a couple of days of the image of one mummy fire producing lots of baby fires, I have tried lowering fires, reducing fires, dousing fires, quenching fires among others, but I simply cannot find a correct English phrase. Any ideas, please?

I am a bit confused by your note: "...part of the overall "mise à bas des feux" process includes shutting down the burners" - the other way around perhaps? Once the burners are shut down, what else can one do with them? So perhaps it is turning down the burners prior to shutting them down/extinguishing them.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Barbara, thanks for your input. However, part of the overall "mise à bas des feux" process includes shutting down the burners, so I don't think your suggestion will work here.
