French term or phrase: lignes tendues
I'm translating a paragraph concerning the hydrodynamics of a new racing yacht.

A large number of computer hull designs were made, four of them were kept and then subjected to a virtual round-the-world. The result being the yacht in question.

They then talk about:

Les lignes sont très tendues et les formes taillées à la serpe.

I always have difficulties with "lignes tendues" so I've decided to see how other translators deal with it.

clean, taut lines
Explanation:
You could use either of these, but I prefer using both together.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. This is often what use and I have also used sleek in the past.

sleek lines

Explanation:
I think you could also say taut, like ropes.

Chris and Gilla beat me to it with " taut", but "sleek" is another possibility.
