Hello,
This comes from a statement of marks for a student on a baccalauréat général course,
Matricule: M755...etc
I gather it's a number that students keep throughout the education process...would roll number be the correct term here?

I'm currently enrolled as a student, and have a "student number" that I have to put on all my work, so I'm sure about that term.

However, I'm not sure that at "bac" level you're classed as a student. I think "pupil" might be more appropriate but I'm not sure.

neutral  Emma Paulay: The meaning of matricule is wider than "registration". In my old company every person on the payroll had a "matricule". It's an identification number used for IT user name, ID badge, canteen payment etc.
