Dutch term or phrase: teldatum

The date on which (in Dutch schools) the number of students is counted to determine funding for the following academic year. The word in context: 'In Nederland wordt een andere teldatum gehanteerd.' One search recommended 'record date' but that sounds a bit vague to me. Any ideas???

Asker: Thanks Lianne, I think this may be a typical difference between US and UK English! 'Census' to me suggests something more adult; this actually applies to a primary (elementary) school child - but I'll keep considering it...

Good point, seemed off to me too. Verginia's answer, count date, seems more appropriate.
