Spanish term or phrase: maza
This is from a report on a vessel hitting a pier whilst attempting to moor:

“Como consecuencia del mismo al momento de chocar dicho dolfin, se produjo el levantamiento de la maza asfáltica de cemento del muelle, a la altura de la Casilla de Comando de la Red de Incendios.”

I was wondering whether "maza" might be a typo for "masa", but, if not, I am unsure as to what is likely to be the correct translation of the word in this context. Any assistance greatly appreciated.
