With all due respect to Mark V\'s \"transforming substation,\" the references to such a term are non-English/American. His reference, I believe, is French Canadian. I\'ve just never heard it called a \"transforming\" station, but I could be wrong - wouldn\'t be the first time!

But, Oleg, you are right - my transformer box blows out regularly since I\'m at the end of the line and get all the surges, despite the surge arresters installed by the power company!

Explanation:
Sorry for the late entry, but I think the problem is solved this way. Switch the adjective and noun. Now you have a single one of the items that a transformer substation is made of. That would make it a mini-substation of the type you would need for one "high-powered" luxury apartment building.
