I'm guessing that this must be some sort of gas lamp and that the "boca roja" is some sort of panel or holder (measuring 7 cm x 15 cm)

El gasógeno era una forma de generar gas combustible quemando carbón o madera en la que se empleaba una caldera de combustión. Es posible que esa boca sea una suerte de chimenea o salida de gases por la que salían llamas.

En la siguiente ilustración se puede ver el esquema de un gasógeno, donde aparece el generador, que no era mas que una caldera en la que se introducía el combustible solido y se le prendía, pero la entrada de aire estaba limitada, por lo que no ardía completamente produciéndose monóxido de carbono entre otros gases.
Esos, tras ser refrigerados y filtrados eran aspirados por el motor donde terminaban de arder.
