self-motivating statements Explanation: If you read English sources on Motivational Interviewing (MI), this is a term that comes up quite a bit and seems to cover the same ground as 'verandertaal'. Compare: "Basistechnieken van MI De meeste MI-gesprekstechnieken zijn voor hulpverleners bekend:. 1. open vragen stellen 2. bevestigen 3. reflecteren 4. samenvatten 5. verandertaal uitlokken" http://www.soaaidsmagazine.nl/artikel_preventie/974 with "Interview Techniques - Open-ended questions - Reflective listening - Affirmation - Summarization - Elicit self-motivational statements" http://www.collegedrinkingprevention.gov/media/mod4motivatio... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 18 mins (2010-01-27 10:05:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I wrote 'self-motivating statements' as my answer, while most MI resources refer to 'self-motivational statements'. I don't think there's any essential difference in meaning, although it may be better to stick with 'self-motivational' in this specific context. |

verandertaal change in emotional vocabulary Explanation: Only read about this recently in Marisa Peer's 'Ultimate Confidence'. It is about changing the words we use to describe how we feel about ourselves, which is related to our motivation but in my opinion not the same as 'self-motivating statements'. |

change talk Explanation: The main goals of motivational interviewing are to establish rapport, elicit change talk, and establish commitment language from the client. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motivational_interviewing Eliciting change talk is at the heart of motivational dialogue. When learners increase their change talk, their commitment to change seems to increase too. ... http://sflip.excellencegateway.org.uk/PDF/E15-11_Eliciting C... |
