French term or phrase: court-circuit pilotable
Found in a patent. I've come up with "drivable short circuit" but with only a few google hits I'm not sure if it's right - any suggestions would be welcome! It's also possible "piloter" is being used in the sense of "manageable" here.

Re Asker's question below:
If you want readers to understand what it being referred to, then you should include 'crowbar', which is the universally-accepted term for this kind of protection device. Adding 'short-circuit' is redundant in normal technical literature, but I guess it might be needed in a patent (at least the first time is comes up in the text).

"crowbar short-circuit device" would be OK.

As there is little context to go on difficult to be certain but the sample site I've given you confirms my own idea.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you - what would you suggest calling the actual device as named in the first sentence? Something like simply "crowbar short-circuit device" or "crowbar protection device"? As this is a patent I feel I need to keep the reference to the short-circuit.

Asker: Thanks - I thought that might be the case.
