Tourism & Travel / viewing monuments in Seville

_________

The text is about the merits of the group of monuments as a heritage site, not only for their own inherent values, but also how they fit into the landscape... and, I believe, how they can be viewed - which I think is relevant here.
I'm at a loss as to how to translate 'escalas de percepción ' without it sounding like some psychological or artistic term. I'm not at all convinced by the literal translation. Obviously, (a) and (b) describe the 2 'escalas' in question.

I'd be really grateful for any suggestions - many thanks!

Incidentally, I've translated 'análisis perceptivo' as 'perceptual analysis' and not 'perceptive analysis' (rightly or wrongly)

many thanks to everyone! Once again, I feel rather silly as the translation turns out to be the literal one ("scales of perception"), even though I had considered this possibility from various angles, and discarded it - amongst a good deal of others. Claudia's answer is also pretty close in meaning, apparently!

You could use this term. You can have different insights of the same thing, depending of how you look at it.

This study uses the following classifications to describe the urban landscape of Seville

Explanation:
I wonder if turning it round like this or similar might work better. You could also try "typologies" instead of classifications. I agree that a literal translation is going to sound odd in English.

As to your question at the end, I think 'perceptual' sounds OK, certainly better than 'perceptive'

Not to worry, I realised as soon as I clicked that it wasn't a question. Not that it would worry me, but the moderators are right: it plays havoc with the glossary.

Asker: thanks Chris! I wasn't trying for 2 questions at once (although I suppose that must be how it looks) but just hoping to add "perspective" to the term in question. Btw, I like your idea of "appreciation"

two scales at which Seville's urban landscape may be viewed / two scales for viewing Seville's...

Explanation:
seems to be referring to the cartographical scale: the old city will be viewed on a larger scale as the area is smaller, while the outskirts of the city will be viewed at a smaller scale as the map will take in a larger area.

The writer does seem to have more of a technical approach (that of an architect or geographer) than that of an artist, even though he/she combines the two approaches.
