make notice of the transcription of marriage certificate Explanation: it does not mean the birth certificate.....it's a simple addendum to the marriage certificate to declare a change of name for the married woman (usually she takes her husband's last name).....here: on January 12, 2004 I make notice(anotar, write down) of a transcription at the 1st Civil Registry of Porto Alegre(..) of the marriage certificate registered(..) taken place 27/05/2003, in Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A, she shall henceforth be named (be called): XXXXX |

I hereby annotate the transcription Explanation: You understand it correctly. When you get married in Brazil your marriage must be annotated in your birth certificate. The word order in the Portuguese text is a bit confusing. Here is my suggestion: "I hereby annotate the transcription of the marriage certificate registered at the Notary Public Office of the 1st Zone, in Porto Alegre, State of Rio Grande do Sul, entered on page XX, Register no. XXX, under number XXX.XXX, marriage which was celebrated in Arlington, Virginia, USA, to XXX, after which the individual adopted the name XXX." |
