Two killer words in one phrase. Given that English has no equivalent for either of them, how to translate the general idea? Context: La pertinence de l’animation en tandem repose largement sur la complémentarité de l’instructeur et de l’intervenant, complémentarité qui peut devenir une véritable complicité lorsque les deux animateurs partagent les mêmes objectifs à l’égard des participants et la même adhésion à l’approche du cirque social.

I have no probs with "complementarity", but "complicité" - in various contexts - has frequently had me struggling.
However, I feel "collaboration" works fine here
