English term or phrase: with his nose in the air
To ignore and scorn the advice of history and of experience is generally disastrous. We live in a time when long-honoured principles of morality and family order are being throuwn away, and replaced by untested ideas. The result, already, is pain and disorder. The very breakdown of society is taking place before our eyes. (Teachers should give examples of the changes in only the last thirty years). The children could at this point be shown a picture of an arrogant young person ***with his nose in the air***, just about to step over the edge of a steep cliff, with the words coming grom his mouth, 'Don't tell me where to go!'

mirando hacia arriba
Explanation:
Como nos acaban de decir que es arrogante, entiendo que se refiere simplemente a que no mira donde pisa y se va a caer por el acantilado.

Creo que es una frase que puede recoger el sentido, aunque sin referencia a la nariz, claro está :-)
