Ringraziando per la proposte di traduzione già pervenute, chiedo... ipotizzando che la domanda precedente "Do you think I could be setting any of this up?" sia da tradurre con "Crede che alcune di queste cose possa essermele inventate" o simile... come tradurreste la risposta del terapeuta, ovvero "You know, I think you could be on to something there. Let’s look at it." ? Grazie mille per la disponibilità.

si potrebbe anche dire "su una buona strada" ma penso che "buona" sarebbe già troppo confermativo, e che l'analista voglia invece lasciare al paziente tutta la libertà di arrivare al punto il più possibile con le proprie forze

E' probabile che tu stia facendo qualche cosa. Vediamo un po' cos'è.

Significa che sta combinando qualcosa nella sua testa, un po' come "to be up to something", sta seguendo un qualche cosa nella sua testa di cui magari non è completamente cosciente. Lascerei un termine un po' generico come "fare" perché anche "to be on to" dà l'idea di fare qualcosa ma non esattamente cosa.
