NO logro comprender el verdadero significado de "Allow for" en esta oración. ¿Podrían ayudarme?

Contexto:

"The section on what caused the sun to and stars to shine was ingenious, the heat generated by gravitational compression and the constant infall of meteorites. IT ALLOWED FOR THE SUN TO BE SIX THOUSAND YEARS OLD, and close to burn out, which of course would happen in the Judgemet Day.

Describe una revista de actualidad que lee un tipo estando en el futuro. En el cual no todo es tan futurista como suele imaginarse. EL futuro es gobernado por una religión ortodoxa y manipulante.

Podrían tambien ayudarme con lo de "INFALL"? Mi opción fue "Caida gravitatoria".

Me parece que los compañeros se han dejado cegar por el "allowed" y se han olvidado del contexto. A mi entender, la persona que escribe el texto está examinando una teoría errónea (el sol no tiene 6 mil años, que se sepa) y considerándola no válida, aunque admite que la teoría era capaz de convencer.

En este contexto, la traducción no es "permitía" ni "hacía posible", sino que hacía creíble o plausible, o sea, que para el lector inexperto la teoría tenía suficientes visos de ser cierta, te hacía creer en lo que plantea.

Exactamente. Pues el lector en esta historia es de convicciones científicas, cuestiona la religión. Y aquí, en la revista que está leyendo, explican cómo se formaron las estrellas y el sol, pero desde el punto de vista de la religión. Que en esta historia, es la que maneja todo. El mundo vive bajo el manto del cristianismo y este a su vez censura todo lo que lo contradiga.

La revista quiere hacer creer.

-> No, sorry. I don't agree. The sun does not exist or cease to exist because of the theory. Instead, the theory of a dying sun was only acceptable because of the [now] doubtful statements, so the theory "allowed for" the belief that the sun was 6K y/o.
