A little more about the context: This is just one element of the hotel faciity. It is really difficult to know if they do offer art classes in the park or if the par is merely being described as awe-inspiring. My main job is to make the hotel sound beautiful and convey the most accurate meaning of the text possible. Obviously with such documents a literal translation is not possible. I want to thank everyone for the great suggestions! And I though it was a silly question!

You know, the statement "eine Parklandschaft oeffnet sich der Kunst" is not a common expression in German as is "picturesque" in English. I've seen many a picturesque area and never would have thought of saying that this area "oeffnet sich der Kunst". Es ist einfach nicht gelaeufig. Soooo, I suggest the asker asks the author exactly what is meant 'cause the meaning just isn't obvious from the given context.

@ Regine: People can certainly ‘open up to’ or ‘embrace’ art. I proposed my answer on the basis that a location cannot have an attitude to art. It may ‘lend itself’ to the staging of exhibitions or events. Hence my question about the clientele. I suspect, however, that the rich holiday goers might find that this interferes with their relaxation by the lake.

We have a park in Seattle that has concerts in the summer, which would be opening the park to art in a sense. Then, this summer, I was in Latvia, where all sorts of modern sculptures were displayed in one park. This is how I would interpret "sich der Kunst oeffnen." Not the fact that it is pretty to paint, which almost any park is without "opening itself to art".

the only sense in which I've ever heard/read that term is "grant opportunities for practicing art (incl. music) / exhibiting art works". Don't know whether that helps or only adds to the confusion. :-/
Could it be they use that park for classic open air concerts?

@Andrew: no mention of art classes, but I suppose the scenery should be awe-inspiring. The clientele are rich holiday goers who want to get away from it all and enjoy some relaxation by the lake.

Think of it as a "Parklandschaft, die sich der Kunst öffnet," IOW a scene that may inspire artists.

The relevant expression is "sich etwas [Dat.] öffnen" -- here, "eine Parklandschaft, die sich der Kunst öffnet".
