Not necessarily. In the cockpit you usually have a warning panel with all those red, amber and yellow lights and you have a lot of indicators, as it is the case with the gear where you have a color-coded display of each "leg" of the gear. Might simply be a cross-hatched instead of a green nose-gear indicator (which in turn could lead to a flashing gear handle).

Firstly, the down and locked indication of the gear is in quite a few cases actuated by the gear doors (interlinked with the strut position) via a solenoid, and, secondly, a switch could have the annotation "gear extension/down" but the "locked" part is definitely a feedback of the actual gear position (as is the Ausgefahren).

David, would you please provide more SENTENCES (preceeding, following), so one might be able to reconstruct an overall sense-making whole. The German (almost) sounds like a machine translation. "Signalisation" is not a real word in German (but it's close to Kanalisation - and that's where this text should go ;-))
Would also help if you could tell me what kind of aircraft the text is about - I still think that there's some sort of setpoint when the landing gear should come down - should be confirmed by pressing a pushbutton or similar and if this pushbutton is not pressed close enough to the final approach, a failure indication is displayed on the control panel
Has this got anything to do with radar acquisition or something similar? More context would be appreciated - seems to me there's some sort of error when a setpoint is defined and switch is not depressed properly, resulting in a display error
I'm rather puzzled by "Schalter vom Ziel nicht tief genug betätigt wurde" too, "because the switch was not pressed far enough from the target position" doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Any ideas?
