Italian term or phrase: iterare un corso
Hello everybody

I wonder if there is an 'official' translation for this, or if it is a procedure existing only in Italian universities (iterare un corso: voler frequentare un corso di cui si è già sostenuto l'esame in un anno accademico precedente).
Any help appreciated.

audit or sit in on a class

Explanation:
In the US, this is generally how you describe attending a class for which you are not seeking credit, which I assume applies here as well.

If the "esame sostenuto" was not passed, then my answer is invalid, and Marika's is the way to go.

Asker: Ciao, Claudio, e grazie. B.

I hope not!

Explanation:
Thank you, another flower for my collection of byzantine speech. I suppose it *is* an official term in official documents?

Fortunately, English-speaking people are a bit less indecent than we are (George Orwell wouldn't agree, though).

I agree with Marika.

Repeating a Course

A student may repeat a course for which a grade of F has been awarded. The failing grade will remain on the student’s transcript even if the course is repeated and passed. If the course is repeated and passed, the passing grade will be recorded on the transcript and only this grade (not the original F) will be used in computing the cumulative GPA. A notation of NC, indicating “no credit”, will be entered on the transcript next to the original grade of F. In exceptional cases, and only with the permission of the Academic Standards Committee, a student may repeat a course for which a passing grade has been earned. Such a repeat may occur only once, and only the second grade earned is used for the GPA.

Asker: Ciao, Bellezza, e grazie, per ora! B.

Grazie davvero. Un abbraccio e alla prossima! Barbara
