English term or phrase: Latter
Hola tengo problemas con esa palabra ¿a qué se refiere? y además no logro conectar la oración gracias a la palabra "where".
Por favor me pueden explicar el sentido. En contexto: "Sulfuric acid--the most widely used solvent. This is used alone for oxides ores or together with Fe2...for sulfide ores and concentrates. Systems for bioleaching of the latter are of growing interests where the micro-organisms produce the necessary reagents and decompose sulfides."

latter
el segundo = Fe2...for sulfide ores

Explanation:
latter means referring to the second of two things or persons mentioned

and you'll have to translate "Fe2...for sulfide ores"

In your text:
"This is used alone for oxides ores or together with Fe2...for sulfide ores and concentrates. Systems for bioleaching of the latter are of growing interests....."
oxide ores is the first element mentioned and Fe2...for sulfide ores the second one

unless there is something else written after Fe2 that in your text is only "..."
