Este vorba de "forma lunga" a unui certificat de nastere eliberat in UK. Aceasta forma lunga contine si numele parintilor.
Forma scurta, adevaratul "Certificat de nastere" contine doar numele copilului, nu si cele ale parintilor

În acest caz particular, este vorba de un extras de pe actul de naştere, sau pur şi simplu extras de naştere; sigur-sigur aşa i se zice la noi:

Acte necesare

- actul de identitate original şi copie xerox,
- certificatul de naştere în original şi în copie xerox; dacă posesorul certificatului are domiciliul sau reşedinţa în străinătate, acesta va prezenta şi un ***extras de naştere*** de uz oficial, eliberat de Primăria care are în păstrare actul de naştere al viitorului soţ;

Dar luat la modul generic, este un extras de pe un act de stare civilă, cum prevede Legea nr. 119/1996 cu privire la actele de stare civilă:

Art. 16. - Starea civilă se poate dovedi prin orice mijloace de probă în faţa instanţei judecătoreşti, în cazul prevăzut la art. 10, precum şi în faţa autorităţilor administraţiei publice când se solicită reconstituirea actelor de stare civilă, în următoarele situaţii:
a) nu au existat registre de stare civilă;
b) registrele de stare civilă au fost pierdute ori distruse în totalitate sau în parte;
c) nu este posibilă procurarea din străinătate a certificatelor de stare civilă sau a ***extraselor după actele de stare civilă***;
d) întocmirea actelor de stare civilă a fost omisă.
