the first inquiry Explanation: I'm puzzled that this wouldn't be "première recherche" in this case, but it's a guess. . .my reasoning is: "inquiry of the first person to respond" |

primary research Explanation: I imagine this is based on primary sources or research in the field not an overview of secondary research solely (ie what others have done) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 mins (2009-08-27 22:41:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In a marketing context: Primary research (also called field research) involves the collection of data that does not already exist. This can be through numerous forms, including questionnaires and telephone interviews amongst others. This information may be collected in things like questionnaires, magazines and interviews. The term is widely used in market research and competitive intelligence. May be very expensive because many people need to be confronted. By the time the research is complete it may be out of date. People may have to be employed or avoid their primary duties for the duration of the research. People may not reply if emails or letters are used. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_research -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2009-08-28 00:24:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I wonder if this is a contraction of 'recherche de première main'. |
