The coordinates is based on Zone 12 of the rectangular plane Explanation: Even though WGS becomes the standard in the world, the rectangular plane is still used in Japanese public offices. Japan is divided into 19 zones in the rectangular plane in order to maintain the accuracy of the map. The earth is divided in 60 zones in the UTM zoning. In this case Japan falls into Zone 52 which is "52系" in Japanese. So I believe that the same idea can be applied to this case.
