agree  Giuseppe Bellone: Yes, I found it too, in A. English. e.g. "Spiked with brandy", :)
8 mins

neutral  Enza Longo: negative connotation in North America as well - I've never had a waiter ask if I wanted my coffee 'spiked' or 'laced' with liquor
11 mins

neutral  Clair Rogers: agree with Enza - spiked and laced don't sound great ;-)

agree  claudiocambon: I would say with a shot of liquor. Liqueur is only sweet liquor. Laced and spiked have slightly negative connotations, often referring to drugs or poisons.
5 mins
  -> Thanks. As usual, dictionaries are a bit... :)

agree  Susanna Garcia: agree with 'shot of' - liqueur is better for UK
6 mins
  -> Thanks. :)

agree  Enza Longo: I'd say with a shot of liquor as well, not liqueur. I'm with Claudio on laced and spiked having negative connotations
7 mins
  -> Thanks. As usual, dictionaries are a bit... :)

agree  Francesca Bersellini: concordo!!
22 mins
  -> Grazie Francesca,:)

neutral  Cedric Randolph: Be careful with the word shot, which means 3/4-1 oz. Carly's is closer to the real thing.

agree  Joel Schaefer: This is best. Spiked and laced both have negative connotations, and liquor (could be brandy, whiskey etc.) is less specific than liqueur (which is sweet).

agree  claudiocambon: Yes, this is probably the bet way to say this in English. A "shot" is in fact a precise measurement. Usually it's the Italian that needs more words, but here it's the other way around!

agree  Andrew Campbell: Spiked and laced tend to be something I'd associate with date rape, this sounds like the most succint description without giving it any negative connotations.
