Italian term or phrase: Amarene vs Visciole
Apologies for posting two terms at once, I hope I will be excused. The reason is that my research so far indicates they both mean "sour black cherries" (prunus cerasus). The problem is, they both appear in a jam catalogue as apparently distinct entities.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the difference(s) if any, and point me towards translations that make the distinction?

amarelle vs morello


Explanation:
They are both varieties of sour cherry, which makes sense.

That said, I think this is a distinction that only farmers and possibly extremely serious foodies would know, but that's what I found.
