Orice proicet mare de investiţii presupune parcugerea mai multor etape:
1) definirea temei cu analiza variantelor propuse
2) selecţia soluţiei constructive
3) identificarea echipamentelor/instalaţiilor/maşinilor
4) proiectarea propriu-zisă, constructivă a ansamblului
5) detalierea proiectului de execuţie
6) aprobare
7) execuţie
8) testare
9) omologare
10) punere în funcţiune

Cam astea sunt, în mare (poate că mi-a scăpat ceva). Primele trei enumerate mai sus fac parte din aşa-numitul "conceptual design project". Eu aş numi această etapă "faza de analiză a variantelor (tehnice) şi selecţie a soluţiei (tehnico-economice)". Tehnico-economice pt. că nu se limitează doar la partea tehnică ci şi la cea pur economică (eficienţă, costuri, etc).

1. culegerea datelor despre variantele de investiţii şi
preselecţia variantelor;
2. analiza de senzitivitate şi analiza economico-
financiară în condiţii de risc a variantelor de investiţii;
3. adoptarea deciziei în condiţii de multicriterialitate.
