"Infectious" has negative connotations in Spanish. Does it apply to English "infectious" too?

Me he dado cuenta de que contesté esto demasiado rápido sin leer con cuidado la frase. De hecho, en esta frase, lo correcto es traducir por "infectious laugh" y no "infectious laughter".

laugh = risa (de una persona)
laughter = risas (colectivo)
