Social Sciences - Religion / religious joke
English term or phrase: illiterate
Hello,
I´m working on a translation of a transcript of a conference about manhood. I found this joke, which doesn´t make much sense to me, maybe because I don´t drive much! : )

Any ideas of how to make it meaningful in Spanish?

"Now, in my new book, Strong Man in Tough Times, I´ve written a chapter about scriptural illiteracy. Scriptural illiteracy doesn´t sound very much like "very much". Huh.. when it comes to illiteracy –there was a bumper sticker... A bumper sticker on the back of a car, and it simply said –***illiterate? Light for free help***."

Blessings,
Elena

Explanation:
Perhaps the person who prepared the transcript mis-heard the joke: 'light' should be 'write'.

analfabeto

Explanation:
*** analfabeto?

Offensive sticker: "Illiterate? Write for help".
Por estas latitudes, se pondría. "soy analfabeto..."

agree  Jennifer Levey: Yes, the bumber sticker is usually quoted as 'WRite for free help.' and the point of the 'joke' is that anyone who can 'write for help' is obviously not 'illiterate'.

¿No sabe leer?

Explanation:
