English term or phrase: soft block
"On freeflow, the operating carrier is giving a second carrier access to its inventory with few restrictions (it is possible for the operating carrier to use inventory control to block certain booking classes), which the second carrier can market under its own code. This provides the second carrier with greater frequency (if it serves the routes as well) or a bigger network (if for a whole range of reasons it does not operate in a given market)

Under a blockspace arrangement, an airline will pre-buy a given number of seats at an agreed price from an operating carrier. Dependent on the terms of the agreement, the carier is then free to sell those seats itself as whatever price it chooses (subject to regulatory issues). The operator benefits in that it has a confirmed revenue stream. This is a hard block space agreement.

There is also a soft block space agreement, where the size of the block varies according to anticipated demand."

NB. In a previous Kudoz entry, it was more or less established that the equivalent for "hard block'" in FR was "bloc sièges" or "bloc-sièges".

un bloc-sièges souple (avec ou sans -)
Explanation:
Dans le premier cas "hard block", il y a certaines conditions fermes qui déterminent le prix d'achat (de la réservation).
Dans le second cas, il y a plus de souplesse, mais les conditions varieront également selon le nombre.
