Spanish term or phrase: colegio libre adoptado
The text is about the petitions a local government in Spain is making to the National government for funds to build a school. My question is what type of school is a "colegio libre adoptado"?

Foundation School
Explanation:
Is this for British English? I think they are Foundation schools. They are maintained by local governement but own their own land and employ their own teachers etc

agree  David Ronder: Yes, or voluntary aided. Maybe say "the Spanish equivalent of..." or similar? No idea what the US English would be.
