English to Italian translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
English term or phrase:at one and the same time
This project traces the shift in tension between artistic activity and the desire for recognition on the one hand and notions of culture that inform the circulation of artworks on the other. It is comprised of multiple chapters, acquiring different forms for each. The first chapter, An Encounter with the Museum Collection, is a series of lecture presentations performed by a single author exploring her encounter with an abstract museum collection. Chapter two is the exhibition Force Field held at GAMeC; this chapter focuses on the status of art: art as a force-field, of simultaneous repulsion and attraction. It engages instances of artistic activities or mechanisms of circulation in which extremely opposed conditions have equal claims on the significance of the artistic act or aspiration. The exhibition highlights the consistent ambivalence inherent to art practice, repeatedly raising the question toward its nature and purpose while at the same time negating the possibility of its definition, of its location. It explores personal impulses driving artistic production, or developing an ambiguous response/relationship to it. The museum is the appropriate setting for this chapter as it offers an instance in which the artistic approach emerges, ***at one and the same time***, as an interruption of a common language, while it is framed as an icon of its context. In this setting, the exhibition explores the tension between the notion of culture (as a pattern, a code, an order) and artistic acts or aspirations, which repeatedly risk looping back in, due to the need for recognition, for impact - or, desire
