I didn't realize the question was closed :) Any way hope you see this. Being attented at a PA is totally different from going to a Hospital (public or private)...

Just realized I did not translate it :)

Hi Rachel! You're welcome!
I just realized, that my suggestion doesn't convey the correct meaning. PAs can be a minor injuries unit, but they also treat patients who have minor chronic diseases, provide exams, medications vaccinations, etc.. Maybe it's more like an **ambulatory center** (Random House) - Sorry for the bad translation..
Hope this helps!

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you Christina! So, maybe it's what we might call in the UK a "Minor injuries unit"? Different from A&E - Accident and Emergency (Emergency room)?

Asker: Hi Christina, I want to close this/select your answer, but am not sure what English term to put in the Glossary, as I haven't found a satisfactory one yet. I found several sites in Eng. that had left the term in Portuguese, and in my text I felt it OK to leave it as the abbreviation.

Asker: Yes - it's always useful to know what initials refer to if they're more than just a code.
