Explanation:
I am assuming this is when an individual is placing minerals in a porous pan and trying to recover the dust powder, nuggets, etc.

agree  bigedsenior: gold pans are not porous, they are broad brim sort of like a wok, but one part of the brim has ridges to catch the heavier gold particles
