Yet, in 1957, Delhi was endowed with a special authority responsible for monitoring the planned development of the capital city through the preparation and implementation of a Master Plan: the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). All lands situated within the urbanisable limits of Delhi were placed under the control of the Delhi Development Authority, which also assumed the charge of a construction agency.
