French term or phrase: l'édition définitive
Is this simply "the final editing?"

Context: agreement for an agency to produce a company's annual report.

Par ailleurs, le CLIENT demeure seul apte à décider de l'édition définitive. À ce titre, l'AGENCE s'engage à effectuer toutes les corrections demandées par celui-ci.

the final draft
Explanation:
In other words, the draft that will be published. A company report does not have multiple editions.

In the example below, the final draft has presumably not yet been issued in hard copy.

neutral  gsloane: An annual report isn't an edition. It'a document which is produced once and cannot be updated.

-> Not necessarily, g! I've seen some edited in the corporate annual magazine which have been found to be mistaken and had to be re-edited!

neutral  B D Finch: I thought that the annual report submitted to Companies House could not be edited, though any error could be corrected in a separate communication.

-> I'm not sure what you mean by "Companies House", B D! Perhaps you mean "Company Headquarters". In any case, here we are talking about a publishing agency editing the annual report.

neutral  Jack Dunwell: Companies House is where we articled clerks used to spend carrying out searches, on the Strand . Not an editing questiion, M. Just trying to help, M

Final copy

Explanation:
It is the final product which is then sent out for approval before being forwarded to the publishing house for printing. It is also important to note that this product may also be edited for typos, inaccuracies, etc. but content isn't changed.

In response to Margaret C's comment on the re-editing of an annual report in a corporate annual magazine, a company's printed and published annual report is an official report, which is normally filed with the relevant authorities in various countries who oversee corporations/companies, etc. It is therefore illegal to tamper with it. You can issue corrections if justified inaccuracies exist but you cannot issue another edition because an edition of a published work inherently means that you are editorially revising the content of said published work.
Check out these two links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annual_report and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edition_(book).

neutral  B D Finch: I can recall sending final drafts (of papers and editorial for a professional journal) to the printers I then got galley proofs back which were proof read and corrected before final publication. Of course, that doesn't happen any more.// Typos only.
1 hr
-> You are correct, but once final copy has been approved for printing, it means that the actual content shouldn't be changed. You receive a proof copy from the printer only to correct typos, grammar and the like; not deleting/adding paras. and sentences.
