(air-)dried beef Explanation: A rather generic term, but definitely covers the kind of meat it is. The German name could also be used as for region specific food that's quite common (but you might want to include an explanation in parentheses in that case) I would call it "jerky" if it weren't for the fact that jerky is always spiced/marinated. Zwetschgenbames Explanation: As others have answered, this is dried beef smoked over plum wood. I saw a comment mentioning "marinated in plums", but from what I have been told in Bamberg, Germany, the beef is not marinated in plums but smoked using plum wood. Example sentence(s):
