Marketing - Retail / Visual merchandising for clothing stores
French term or phrase: mes notes merchandising
Hi all,
I'm struggling with "notes" in this context. The word appears several times in the text, sometimes in the 'traditional' sense, notes, or memo type idea but there are some cases where this doesn't seem to fit at all.
"Comment implanter mes notes merchandising"
"Certaines notes doivent être positionnées obligatoirement à des endroits et à un moment précis"
"Faites tourner les autres notes merchandising au minimum tous les 15 jours."

I thought about "collection" but I already have "vestiaire" in the text which I can only conclude must be collection, or clothing range.

Can anyone shed any light?
Thanks in advance

English translation:Merchandise (Items) (see below)
Explanation:
Its an odd use of the word, i think there is no word in English that can accurately cover what it is trying to say, as it seems to be used in 2 different ways in the text. I would avoid trying to find one word that covers the two meanings.

Use 'Merchandise' or 'items' (or both)- This works, particularly for the second two sentences where it seems to be clearly talking about merchandising features ( seasonal and topical features for example) and rotational merchandise ( items that are moved around the store ) respectively.
Otherwise i would just leave it as merchandise in the above context, to keep it simple.

In the first sentence i would probably say something along the lines of 'Merchandising Tips' or 'Tips for Merchandise Items...' as that is what i understand to be said there.

Hi there... in the end this was what I went with although i kind of adapted it throughout the text. Although stickers, signs seemed logical it didn't fit with the context. I used merchandising materials in some cases, merchandise in others and items, products etc in others...Thanks all for reassuring me that I wasn't missing anything glaringly obvious!

my merchandising hints or touches (suggestions, ideas, tones...)

Explanation:
In that general area, as in my comment to you above. As when you say, mettre une note triste... sort of like a hint of sadness or a sad touch or tone. In this case it would be an idea or suggestion or hint for merchandising purposes.

my merchandising signs/stickers/

Explanation:
As they are to be positioned and changed etc. I think these are physical objects, rather than mere ideas.

thoughts / observations / opinions

Explanation:
Le Petit Robert gives 'observation', 'pensée' and 'réflexion' as possible meanings of 'note', along with the more usual meaning of short, written communiqué.

I think one or more of these could fit your context.

my (visual) merchandising angle

Explanation:
I think it could well refer to physical aspects of visual merchandising - 'angle' could cover that - I think!
