CONTEXT:
As our colleague just said, the riverbed is in equilibrium with the sediment and the climate and the flow in the river. The sediment is in equilibrium with the land juice so if we have different kinds of farming, if we have different urban drainage systems, we change the amount of sediment and we change the form of the river.

I thought about "composizione del terreno", but I need confirmation.

Penso che si tratti dello sversamento e del drenaggio di reflui urbani che possono essere prodotti sia da attività domestiche sia da quelle industriali. Vedi ad esempio:
