紋章(coat of arms)で辞書にものってますが、その誤字なのではないでしょうか...?
別の大使館でも、門についてたマークをそう呼んでたと記憶しています。

agree  humbird: [門章]は誤字か特殊用法でしょう。手元の国語辞典にはそういう言葉は見当たりません。門につけても、衣服やよろいや旗につけても「紋章」が正しいはずです。グーグルしても250万ヒットしています。「門章」はほとんどなし。

agree  sigmalanguage: 誤字の可能性は十分ありますね。ただ、「門に掲げられていた」とあるので、意図的に「門」と書いた可能性もあるかもしれません。難しいです・・・。

  -> う～ん　その可能性も高いですね...国章はnational emblemが辞書に出ましたね。昔ちょっと仕事してた豪大使館ではcoat of arms と呼ばれたものが門にもありましたが、それも国章と呼ばれることがあるかもしれません。悩ましいですね...

agree  sigmalanguage: 最初は「紋章」の間違いかと思ったのですが、門についていたものなので、gate emblemの意味の可能性は十分あると思います。
