وفي كل الحالات فالزواج في الإسلام هو إحصان لرجل محصن وامرأة محصنة؛ أي رجل عفيف يتزوج من امرأة عفيفة فيصون عرضها ويحفظها ويحصنها، كما أنه بزواجه منها يحصن نفسه. لذا فيقال للمرأة المتزوجة العفيفة محصنة كما يقال للمرأة غير المتزوجة العفيفة محصنة أيضا، والسياق يحدد ذلك.
