unperforated area / area free of perforations Explanation: It is not usual to perforate plates right out to the edges because any holes that land on the edge would leave jagged edges. There is almost always a peripheral area that is untouched by the perforator (and it's often on that smooth unperforated area that a manufacturer will stick or emboss his trademark). |
