PINPHONE SYSTEM: TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE BY PRISONERS

Note to staff – this compact must be explained to all prisoners. Prisoners must sign a copy or if a prisoner has reading difficulties the compact must be signed on his/her behalf, before being allowed to use the PIN phone System. A signed copy should be retained in the prisoners’ record.

If the prisoner refuses to sign the compact or has literacy difficulties, the officer should read the document over to them and endorse the form accordingly.

"Literacy difficulties", si lo traduzco como "problemas para leer" puede quedar poco formal. ¿Está bien "déficit de alfabetización"?

Yo traduzco planes de educación personalizados para el programa de educación especial de un distrito escolar. Literacy en muchos casos se trata de la lectura, la escritura y también el habla. Por eso es mejor usar "alfabetización" y no "dificultades de lectura y escritura" con el fin de abarcar todo lo que compone alfabetización.
