W tym przypadku użyto określenia "per impression" (w przeliczeniu na odsłonę, niezależnie od sposobu jej wywołania) w znaczeniu ogólnym. Na ogół jednak rozróżnia się "cost/pay per impression" i "cost/pay per click", ten pierwszy rezerwując dla wyświetlania reklamy bez inicjatywy (kliknięcia) oglądającego. W tym tekście to rozróżnienie wprowadzono używając odpowiednio "display ads" i "search ads".
